We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented Trainee Cosmetic Compounder / Manufacturer to join our growing manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in the cosmetic and personal care manufacturing industry and would like to develop practical skills in cosmetic compounding, manufacturing processes, GMP, and quality control. The successful candidate will receive training and work closely with experienced production personnel to ensure that cosmetic products are manufactured safely, accurately, and according to approved formulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the compounding and manufacture of cosmetic and personal care products according to approved formulations and Batch Manufacturing Instructions (BMIs). 

  • Accurately weigh, measure, and prepare raw materials for production. 

  • Learn to operate and monitor mixing, blending, and other manufacturing equipment safely and correctly. 

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality requirements, and health and safety procedures. 

  • Complete batch manufacturing documentation accurately and maintain clear production records. 

  • Assist with equipment cleaning, sanitation, and production area housekeeping in accordance with SOPs. 

  • Assist with the receipt, handling, identification, and storage of raw materials. 

  • Monitor raw material usage and report shortages, discrepancies, or quality concerns to the relevant supervisor. 

  • Work closely with Production and Quality Control teams to ensure products meet required specifications. 

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe manufacturing environment. 

  • Learn and develop an understanding of cosmetic manufacturing processes, raw materials, equipment, and quality requirements. 

  • Carry out other reasonable production-related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) is essential. A qualification or studies in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Food Science, or a related field will be advantageous. 

  • Previous manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

  • Previous exposure to cosmetic, pharmaceutical, personal care, food, or chemical manufacturing will be an advantage. 

  • Basic understanding of GMP and manufacturing processes is advantageous. 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 

  • Good numerical, organisational, and record-keeping skills. 

  • Willingness to learn and follow detailed procedures and instructions. 

  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team. 

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene. 

  • Physically able to work in a manufacturing environment and handle raw materials and equipment as required. 

  • Contactable recent references. 

  • Must reside in or be able to reliably commute to the Diep River area.
